Terms of use
Last updated 7 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of Poof, a Zoom App, and the website poof.website. Poof is provided by Global Rising GbR, Vaubanallee 2, 79100 Freiburg, Germany ("we", "us"). By adding or using Poof you agree to these terms.
1. The service
Poof changes how your own video looks in Zoom meetings: it can make you vanish into a photo of the empty room, or loop a short clip of you while you step away. It works through the Zoom Apps SDK inside the Zoom client and can only do what Zoom allows. It affects only your own video.
Poof is currently free of charge. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance, and nothing will be charged without your explicit agreement.
2. Your right to use Poof
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Poof for its intended purpose while these terms apply. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or interfere with the service, or use it in a way that breaks the law or Zoom's terms.
3. Zoom
Poof runs inside Zoom, and your use of Zoom is governed by your agreement with Zoom Video Communications, Inc. Poof is not made, endorsed or supported by Zoom. Zoom's rules and limits apply to Poof too. If Zoom changes or withdraws a feature Poof relies on, such as Camera Mode, parts of Poof may stop working.
4. Using Poof responsibly
Poof is made for fun and for small moments of privacy. You are responsible for how you use it:
- Don't use Step away or Vanish where you are required to be present and visible, for example in exams, assessments, identity checks, court or official hearings, or where an employer or organizer requires your live attendance.
- Don't use Poof to deceive anyone in a way that harms them or breaks the law, or to impersonate another person.
- Record your stand-in only of yourself, and only in places where you may film.
5. Privacy
How Poof handles data is described in our privacy policy. In short, your photos stay on your computer, and stand-in clips are stored on our server only encrypted, for at most 24 hours.
6. Availability and changes
We work to keep Poof available and useful, but we cannot promise uninterrupted operation. Effects may not look perfect in every room or light. We may improve, change or discontinue features. If we plan to discontinue Poof altogether, we will announce it on this website in reasonable time.
7. Liability
Poof is provided free of charge. We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage caused by slight negligence. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumers have under the mandatory law of the country where they live.
8. Ending use
You can stop using Poof at any time by removing it from your Zoom account (see the user guide). We may suspend access for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change significantly affects you, we will point it out on the website before it takes effect. If you keep using Poof after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by German law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you usually live. If you are a merchant, the courts at our place of business have jurisdiction.
